    The bands died today (Sept 6, 2017) at 1157 UTC in New Hampshire (FN42hr). I was working 40 meter FT8 and everything went
    quiet all of a sudden. Now (1415 UTC) I only hear a (one) signal occasionally. Thought ALL my radios and antennas were broken.
    Glad I checked out the information at QRZ.com and pskreporter.info.

    That almost reads like the opening line in an obituary. :cool:

    Hi Everybody;

    As the solar flux activates the Ionosphere the higher band will open.

    Right now we hear activity on 20 and 15m.

    All the best;

    I tuned around through the bands 1300 local time.... Nothing! Ncdxf w6wx on 20m only.and only on 10w and 100w.

    Made qso with noontime net on 7283.5. something.

    But tomorrow should be good.

    Hoping for some enhancement for the ARRL VHF contest this weekend!

    So are you saying this all nonsense?

    Damn, I was thinking about taking a couple of days off work . CNDX seem to be great according to this graph

    No this is not nonsense but it is limited in the information it can provide. It is based on Solar Flux as a running average and if something extraordinary is happening - like the sun waking up and exploding in an X-Ray flare or two - the intensity of the radiation changes so fast that this display fails to accommodate.

    All the best;

    that prediction is a full 6 hours later, the prediction when I ran showed "poor" all over. but I gave it a try anyways.

    with a good prediction, did you get on the air? any QSOs?

    Na, I'm strictly a weekender OP. But these cndx reports have me thinking about taking a couple of days off!

    Was a very pleasant surprise to turn on the rig and hear him. Got him on 2nd call. New one for me. otoh there was a 9v1 on 15 that I must have called 200 times before giving up as he faded out :( - that could have been another new one

    Funny thing is that he was the strongest sig on the band too! I got through after maybe 10 calls or so.
