I don't necessarily mean the most effective, but what is the most fun? Or, which gives you the most pleasurable operating experience?

I have a bunch of radios, ranging from semi-vintage (a couple of Kenwood hybrids) to new stuff (IC-7300). The radios that are the most fun for me are my TH-D72 HT that I use on the satellites, and a Yaesu FT-817. Neither radio is really anything fancy, but I have a lot of fun with these. After that it would probably be the TS-530. Yeah, tuning the finals can be a PITA, but it's still a fun rig to operate.

How about you? What's your favorite, and why?

That's a tough one. But I will try.
Current favorite in my shack, Kenwood TS-2000. Is it a great radio? Nope. Do I enjoy it? Yup. A while back I traded my 2000 for an Icom 9700, the Icom is a great radio but I didn't enjoy it like I did the Kenwood, even though I operate satellites more than anything. There is just something about the Kenwood that I like. So I sold the 9700 and bought another 2000.

Favorite that I have ever owned? Hands down the Drake B-line twins.
Runner up would be the Tempo 2020 because it was my first SSB rig and is a really nice radio.

One that I use the most right now? My Icom R8600 receiver. Tons of fun in a small box.

My FT-818 is the funnest radio I've ever owned. 5 watts and a vertical piece of wire and I'm making contacts halfway around the world and it all fits in a small sling pack or small box.

Not sure why, but I have an as new Realistic htx100 from the 80’s that I really enjoy getting out when 10 meters gets active. It also does cw. Probably time for that now.

Mine is the Cobra 25 with a little 500w kicker. I also have a Uniden Bear Tracker with built in radar detector.

Anything with a tube in it that requires constant fiddling with the knobs.

I've been lucky enough to own most of the biggies over the years. Right now? The IC-7610. I just love it. :)
