When I taught radio broadcasting I told the kids to always read the copy FIRST. One kid consistently didn't so I gave him copy that included, "I am as bright as a burned out light bulb", he read it on the air.

Some might consider that child abuse.

I wrote this little piece for our Sunday School Class Christmas party:
Done in the voice of Walter Brennen.
Twas the night before Christmas and the kids were in beds
While visions of presents and goodies danced in their heads
Ma retired too, she was all tuckered out
Me, I couldn't sleep, I was so upset I just wanted to shout
Ya see, it was a bad year and the crops didn't make
And the thought of no money for presents or goodies was more than I could take
So with a heavy heart I knew what had to be done
I went to the closet and got out the old shot gun
I walked out to the front yard and shot off a round
I hurried back in, put it in the closet so it wouldn't be found
Ma and the kids came a-running real quick
I'm just standing there like a dumb stick
"What was that sound? What was that noise?
With tears in my eyes I looked at my sweet little girl and my two fine boys
I said, "Kids, I'm afraid there will be no presents or goodies this yuletide
Cause you see, old Santa done went and committed suicide".

That seems VERY much the way "snooze-casters" on the nutworks (networks) Nooz are these days. Even OBVIOUS mistakes get broadcast over the air, and sometimes take hours to be corrected. It makes them look like total idiots, even if some of them are at least semi-intelligent.

(Sorta : "Copy? We don[t no stinkin' copy! WE'll get it wrong the first time all by ourselves!)

I usually dislike holiday decorating, but I am totally going to have to build one of those. A+.

"Xmas is a common abbreviation of the word Christmas. It is sometimes pronounced, but Xmas, and variants such as Xtemass, originated as handwriting abbreviations for the typical pronunciation. The "X" comes from the Greek letter Chi, which is the first letter of the Greek word Χριστός, which in English is "Christ"."
