Arthur H. Aronson, AA3FO SK Arthur H. Aronson, 85, of Renfrew passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2021, after a brief illness. Arthur was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Alice Aronson (Ades); his mother, Pauline Aronson (Lasdon); and his father, George Aronson. He is survived by his partner, Lois Porter; his sister, Rosalee White; his children, Terisa Marini, Steven Aronson, Kristina Schultz and Betsy Kantrowitz; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Arthur was born July 9, 1935, in Troy, N.Y. He graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1958, with a Bachelor of Science in metallurgy. He then served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army. Arthur later received his master's and Ph.D. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In 1986, he was elected into the American Society for Metals as a fellow in recognition of his distinguished contributions to the field of metals and materials. Art worked as executive vice president of Allegheny Ludlum from 1988 until his retirement in 2000. Arthur was well-known for his philanthropy. He diligently served as an emeritus life trustee at Carnegie Mellon University, member of the Butler County Community College Education Foundation, and board member at Cooper Tire, among many other organizations. He was a generous donor to his alma maters, the United Way, and other worthy causes. He was also a proud member of the Butler Country Club, The Duquesne Club and Youngstown Yacht Club. Arthur was a man of many talents and interests. His love of sailing led him to seas around the world. He was an amateur radio enthusiast, avid golfer, and longtime member of the Butler Country Club. Art was a tremendous bridge player, voracious reader, world traveler and history buff, who adored being around his family and friends. Arthur will be missed by all who knew him. ARONSON - A celebration of life for Arthur H. Aronson, who died Tuesday, March 30, 2021, will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Butler Country Club.
