On 'Days that Shook the World' on the History Channel I saw a show that told basically (for the masses) about Marconi's 1st transatlantic radio transmission. Funny how it took an inventor not a scientist to make this happen. The scientists of the time thought it impossible.

It was also once widely believed that if a human body traveled over 60 MPH the person would be crushed from the stress of the high speed.

Then it was believed that supersonic speeds would crush a person.

Today the belief is that you can't travel faster than the speed of light.
