It's actually the K8RA P6, isn't it? The single lever paddle, not the iambic. I agree with you: It is an amazing paddle. Probably my favorite.

You're right. It is an awesome built key, like a tank.

Using 1000 grit sandpaper, you can remove much of the discoloration, and a little Wenol or Simichrome at the end will have the steel lever look it's chrome plated.

Interesting 'Polechanger' keys. Landline-era relic. They were used with Wheatsone Bridge-like devices to service the lines and find the fault in downed telegraph lines. They have relatively stiff springs and wouldn't be good for sending code although you could replace the spring. They're more correctly regarded as momentary switches rather than as telegraph keys.

    From left:

    Bunnell Polechanger 1B. Lacquered brass.

    Spies Polechanger iB. Cadmium plated.

Novelty stapler made in Japan made 1969-70 based on Polechanger keys.

How does the Begali Leonessa compare to the Expedition?
My budget limit is around $300 US. Thanks Paul kw1L

A gaggle of paddles, all homebrewed by the cheapest ham on the block. I also like to attach a paddle to my portables, and in the foreground is a "penpaddle" that allows me to log and send without putting the pen down. Takes a bit of practice though!
