Hello Everyone, I just posted a new video onlie about the OpenSPOT3, this is the latest multimode digital hotspot from SharkRF with hardware transcoding capabilities (AMBE chip inside). This is my review with a demonstration. 73 Pascal VA2PV

Thanks for this video, I have been looking into various digital modes more over the last several months since I picked up the FT-3200DR in February which does C4FM. If I am understanding the transcoding correctly with a hotspot like this I could use a C4FM radio transcoded to communicate via a DMR talk group? Perhaps I am describing that incorrectly.

Yes, can do D-star, DMR, Fusion. Well developed unit.

Yes, that's correct. It will transcode to DMR, D-Star and NXDN. Make sure you have your C4FM radio set to DN (Digital Narrow), you connect the hotspot to the TG you wish in DMR and set the modem to C4FM and you're good to go. Kept in mind that it will transcode to the Internet not to a local repeater, unless that repeater is connected to the TG over the internet. 73 Pascal VA2PV
