Here is my experience on the receiving end of things recently. If you want to know how to pack stuff correctly, get in touch with WØLSB. He shipped me a 20# linear power supply that arrived absolutely intact with a minimal amount of extraneous packing material. He basically made a cradle out of high density foam sheet that held the unit suspended in the center of the box with a little bit of those pillow type bags as insurance in a triple ply box to finish it up. It went UPS, known for playing football with your stuff. He provided an elegant solution that could be scaled up for an amplifier if need be. I would ship the tubes disconnected from the amplifier, with socket/tube configurations marked. Seems more secure that way. Do not trust a third party shipper to do your work for you, unless you like damage claims. Just man up and take care of it personally; ask lots of questions if necessary and never use packing peanuts for heavy items. That is just plain ignorant.
