    Today I acquired a SCU-17.
I am attempting to connect it to a Yaesu-FT450D.
    I am using a WIN7 computer.

I have received three cables with the SCU-17:
    A USB-A to USB-B,
a CAS-S00002-0002 which fits the "DATA PORTS on the FT-450D and the SCU-17,
and a CAS-S00002-0003 that has DB-9 connectors on both ends.

I have run into several problems.

The Yaesu "SCU-17 Operating Manual" that was in the box with the SCU-17, says to download a driver from the Yaesu. com FTDX-1200 support files.

" The "Virtual COM Port Driver Installation Manual" says to download the CU-17 driver (CP210_ V6.7) from the Silicon labs website.

There are two versions of CP-210_v6.7 on the Silicon Labs website.

I using the "Virtual COM Port Driver Installation Manual" from the Yaesu.com website.

I am at the "Connecting the SCU-17 or Transceiver and the Computer" section of the instructions.
I have executed the "Connect the computer and SCU-17" section.
I have succesfully downloaded, unzipped, and installed the CP210_ 64.exe driver.

I am trying to execute the next section of the instructions
"Connect the computer and the transceiver".
This section says to install the USB cable between the Computer and the Transceiver.

THERE IS NO USB PORT ON THE FT-450D TRANSCEIVER.

    The instruction is obviously incorrect.

Can anyone tell me what is the correct next step?

Use the cable that has the DB-9 connectors on each end.

On page 12 of the manual, there is a diagram showing the connections for the FT-450D.

The cable with the two DB-9 connectors goes from the SCU-17 to the radio.
The Data Cable goes from the SCU-17 to the radio.
The USB-A to USB-B cable goes from the SCU-17 (USB-B) to the computer (USB-A).

    Thats what I thought.
The "Virtual COM Port Driver Installation Manual" is incorrect.

I didn't think the computer would be connected directly to the FT-450D,bypassing the SCU17, but I wasnt sure.

    Yaesu needs to correct this.

    TU for your reply.

Yes, but they probably won't. They are not the only ones that have errors in their publications.
