I thought I was going to start collecting again, but plans have changed, so I’m selling my very nicely conditioned 1915 Double Lever bug. Double Levers are unique and scarce keys. The model’s unique in that it’s the only Vibroplex where the dot and dash levers are separate from each other. They were manufactured from 1907 – 1926. This is an early New York model as evidenced by the square frame. It has the B4 nameplate, and it’s circuit closer pivots on the far end. It has no serial number, which is not unusual for Vibroplex Double Levers of this vintage. According to Tom French’s book, “The Vibroplex Collector’s Guide, the Double Lever is one of the scarce Vibroplexes, ranking third only behind the Midget and the Upright, of which there are only a handful known to be in existence. As French wrote about the Double Lever , “At this level the collector doesn’t get overly sensitive about what he will accept.” The B4 plate dates this key from 1913-1915. The original owner apparently scratched his initials and date on the bottom: “WWP 1915.” Own a piece of telegraph history with this key. It works well. I’ve used it. Sell for $395 shipped. Insurance, if you’re interested, will be a few dollars more. If interested please contact me at my QRZ email address.
