Suggestion: Why entries for BAND and FREQ?, the BAND can be calculated from freq dynamically, also... If you set the freq above the Mode, you can roughly guess the mode... For example, this mockup: The freq box always shows a freq, for starting point 14.255 and the shown `MHz [20m]` as a gray permanent addenum inside the box [updated only when enter/focus_out], also, it can be a label right of the box, that don't need to be 100% of the space shown as even with GHz bands the space required is smaller, like this, but with better layout: Then the Mode is computed, using the normal banplans, and if not standard the users can change it. Setting a default freq or the label tells the user that the values is on Mhz and solve the GHz/MHz/kHz ambiguity. Cheers, CO7WT
It would be a great addition to make the call sign a hyperlink that would open a new tab and take you to their QRZ profile page (if available) so you can read a bit about them, see their name, etc. That would help as a conversation starter.
Active on two different bands at same time suggestion. I often operate as G0ISW on 50 MHz FT8 at the same time as being GE0ISW on HF FT8 using two different radios and PCs here in the shack. Other operators may be able to monitor two different bands at the same time using one radio. Might it be a future option to permit more than one active session at a time? 73 de Philip
I was on 20M SSB using the program and liked it. One suggestion is to put the most popular modes at the top of the mode list. Example SSB, FT-8. CW, etc then list all the other modes not used as much. It would make it easier for most of us, rather then scrolling down through every mode available. My 2 cents' worth! Keep up the good work 73, Bob, NF7E
Tested whole evening till now, program works smooth for now , not to much stations QRV so no QSO yet. Little thing the position on the map is a few KM wrong but I don't think this is a program bug. For now I like the program. I will continue tomorrow. 73, Ferry PE1LDS
If I have 2 operating sessions active I can only click on the most recent one but I can see the first session behind it although it's unclickable. Also if I have an active operating session the controls to end my session or QSY are only available in the map icon or list view. Why not put those controls below the map where you click to Add new operating session? This would be easier for visually impaired or operators with other accessibility needs.
The system, as intended was only supposed to allow one operating session per callsign. That a second can be created is a bug. QRZ has not yet decided if it's going to allow multiple op sessions as requested, or fix the issue to restrict to one op session at a time as was originally planned. That said, you can access both op sessions separately in the list view. They are on top of each other in the map view because the same grid was specified. There isn't currently any provision in the map to separate multiple icons with the same grid entry. As for the grids themselves, they are correct and in the correct position. The system supports 4 and 6 character grids. A 4 character grid is a 7000 square mile box. A 6 character grid is still a 12 square mile box. Unless you're in the center of the grid you specified, the icon is still going to be some distance away. I added an FAQ for the grid question: https://forums.qrz.com/index.php?threads/frequently-asked-questions.962246/#post-7166340 73, Steve KF8KI
I agree operators should be able to have only one session active. The only exception I can see is Dexpeditions where they might have multiple operators and modes under single callsign
Where it will get sticky is for operators that have multiple managed callsigns. One of the other arguments is a station that might be working voice and digital at the same time. We're not sure of the solution yet. Thanks for your input. 73, Steve KF8KI
So far, I was able to enter frequencies, bands, and connect. But I have to enter a comment to connect. Is this a mandatory entry or optional?
Suggestion: Default the grid square to the callsign default. If the user is away from their grid square then have them change it. I would assume/guess there are more users operating from there home QTH than away. I had a couple great QSO's this evening and all went smooth. 73 Tom AD8NF
