RSGB-NHS campaign and amateur radio on the BBC today The RSGB say: We're delighted that amateur radio and our 'Get on the air to care' campaign with the NHS is featured prominently in the BBC news today: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-52442553 We worked with the journalist to provide facts and contacts as part of our continuing media campaign. # GOTA2C Our campaign has had a great response from radio amateurs across the world as we all cope with the challenges of the pandemic together, so it is excellent that it has been picked up in the national BBC coverage today as well as in the regional BBC radio interviews we’ve already had. Many thanks Heather Heather Parsons Communications Manager Radio Society of Great Britain http://www.southgatearc.org/news/2020/may/rsgb's-get-on-the-air-to-care-campaign-on-bbc-news.htm
Would be nice to have a contact with this station. I am currently running Special Events Station - Gb9CLD - Covid Lock-Down
Well done folks, a brilliant advert for amateur radio and from the best club in the UK. Keep up the good work. 73 Phil G0BVD
An excellent ham radio initiative! (Years ago before smartphones I lived out in the countryside and noted how even simple CB radio kept people in touch and prevented isolation and loneliness.) And it was great to read GO4AEH Jim Lee's anaysis of the article on the BBC website. Some months ago Jim kindly visited our local radio club; Cray Valley Radio Society in S.E. London and gave a very interesting talk about his early days in broadcasting and his career as a BBC newsreader and continuity announcer.....including humorous accounts of when technical gremlins and other glitches do their best to disrupt the smooth flow of BBC broadcasts! 73, Jeff in sunny London.
