Our club is presently planning a new installation of a 3 el (inc 40 m) Steppir antenna on a 50 foot tower. Our existing antenna rotator is only a Ham II so we need to upgrade. I'm thinking of a Tailtwister and someone has recommended a Yaesu rotator. Anyone with experience with this style of antenna care to recommend a rotator. (8.3 sq ft wind area).

    Thanks, Bob, VE7HS

I'd go with the T2X. It's big enough for the job and the control box is dumb as a box of rocks, so rarely fails and if it does it's very easy to fix. Hy-Gain stocks all the parts, and they're cheap.

The Yaesu G1000 can handle this also but the controller is very complex and when it fails, repairing it can be a big job. Most send them back to Yaesu for repair.
