Rob was born in south-central Idaho to school teacher parents Kenneth and Nancy Fisher.
In 1962, his dad took a job in Deer Park, Washington where Rob grew up and ultimately returned to live on his family farm of 51 years.
At age 16, Rob started working in the neighbors’ fields bucking hay and bagging groceries at the local grocery store to pay for flying lessons.
At 17, he earned his pilot’s license and graduated from high school with 150 hours of flight time. He continued his higher education in Oklahoma, where he obtained his A&P mechanics license, commercial pilot’s license, his CFI and CFII at 19 years old.
He then attended Spokane Falls Community College before transferring to Central Washington University, where he flight instructed and graduated in 1986 with a bachelor of science in flight technology. He flew air freight in piston and turbo prop twins, then progressed to flying for two regional airlines before being hired by Alaska Airlines on his 30th birthday.
He was fortunate to fly the co-pilot seat of the Boeing 727, MD80 and 737-200QC. While flying the 737-200 he was upgraded to Captain in 1999.
As an Anchorage-based pilot, he thoroughly enjoyed flying off gravel strips and Aleutian chain airports.

In 2001, he moved his family back to Eastern WA. In 2014, he married his wife, Lonita and began serving as a Seattle-based Check Airman and instructor for Alaska Airlines.

Rob loved amateur radio, camping, fishing, working in the shop, and spending time at his lake cabin.

Rob was preceded in death by his sister Brooke Fisher Knapp and his father Kenneth Fisher.

His surviving family consists of his wife Lonita, mother Nancy, four children: Rachel, Ryan, Luke, John, three stepsons: Caleb, Levi, Dakota, 5 daughter in laws and three grandchildren.
