Robert Earl West (KC4GQ), age 80, of Gainesville, GA, passed away Saturday, May 9, 2020. Earl was born in Gainesville on June 27, 1939 to Enoch and Leila Kiser West. He graduated from Gainesville High School and served in the U. S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam. While in the Army he became interested in ham radio, a hobby he enjoyed for the rest of his life. He met and became friends with people around the world, and occasionally was able to help get messages through during emergency situations. He traveled extensively and was an avid reader. Earl spent his entire career working for Delta Airlines, in Atlanta and San Francisco. He was known by his coworkers as a jokester and an amateur cartoonist who kept them amused. Earl will be remembered by those who knew and loved him for his outgoing personality and quick sense of humor.

Earl frequently checked into the 40 Meter East/Central RV Service Net and his many on-air friends will miss his cheerful voice.
