Not often, but often enough, I detect a bias against those of us using older technology. We may be perceived as not able to grasp (or afford) the latest technology.
    1. I was told by a Flex owner that my 15 meter signal was 11 hertz off frequency. Help me out please. Does that mean his pan- adapted 1500 can measure 11 parts per 21 million?

Considering what that stuff fetches at auctions these days, and the fact that it is mostly unobtanium and I have a substantial collection, I'd say I got the last laugh.

Don, I do believe you have the market cornered on "unobtanium".

I like that Sue, "PRF." Maybe medical insurance companies have a rider for that?:D

Besides, when you're a ham, you experiment with and improve boat anchors - that's what you do! :)

A friend has her favorite term. GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome).

... as in, "a confirmed equipment hoarder has a horrible case of GAS?"

Everything except the one piece I need.

I know what you mean, Don. I get weird comments from folks when I load up on SP-600s, 200s and tubes at hamfests. Their loss, though... :)

Those folks have never heard the dulcet tones of an R390 cranked wide open into a good speaker on AM.

The new breed of Flex's sound outstanding on AM. I use the same audio chain for the old and the new. I use an isolated splitter from the audio rack.
