It's always interesting to watch demonstrations like this. It gets even better using a 2m SSB rig (FT-817) connected to a portable aluminum squalo antenna. I just held up the antenna by hand above my head while calling CQ. One day I could reach a station in Michigan while standing in my backyard in Columbus, Ohio.
