I noticed on a recent visit that my cell phone provider does not have service at the park itself. I am thinking about bringing my 2-meter rig with me next time for emergency communications. Does anyone know of a repeater that covers at least part of the South Beach area of the park, perhaps with a phone patch? I am of course willing to pay club dues/make a donation if it is a closed repeater.

I know phone patches are pretty much gone elsewhere but it looks like this is one place where a patch might still be very useful for any necessary 911 calls! (If you know the park, you are probably thinking, "Snakebite!" or "I'm stuck!" But I know how to use a 4x4 on the beach, and I stay out of the dunes, so neither of those is likely :))

The national seashore is on North Padre Island, so the
Corpus Christi area repeaters may cover that area.
Never had a problem with snakes there, but the sandflies
    and mosquitos can be brutal!
Been stuck in the sand a couple times, but usually some one
with a tricked-out 4X4 comes by, and are glad to help with a
tow. One time it was a couple guys dragging about a hundred feet
of hawser rope (abt. 3" in dia.), and they used it to pull me out.
    Have fun!
