First, I'd like to remind you that the First Amendment exists only to protect you from the US Government limiting your free speech and no one else. Every repeater I'm aware of is owned by a private individual or a club of private individuals. You can (and apparently do) argue that FCC rules about what can be said is a problem, in which case I can suggest you find a very large amount of money and start suing your way to the Supreme Court.

Second, I read a bit of your bio here at QRZ and it makes me wonder if your negative experience is because of your own attitude or just your locality. Maybe a bit of both? You say of amateur clubs (among other things), "Free Speech is Routinely Stepped On in meetings and open fair elections are never held! All projects, benefits, and positions are offered to only a small handful of people, the rest are ignored or otherwise excluded!"

Well let me tell you about *my* club:

My local club is probably at least 60 years old and I'm only aware of it having 5 different elected Presidents, but I know why that number is so low: nobody really wants the job. The 3 prior club presidents I know have met were each stuck with the position for no less than about 15 years, again because no one else would accept the position. I'm the club president now (3 whole months!) and I accepted the nomination with great trepidation, knowing the past history.

But the main reason I did accept the nomination and election to president was that I have new ideas and plans for our club. Most of the other club members seem pretty on board with the idea of new ideas too :) Fun fact, I only joined this club a little over 5 years ago when I got my license. So I'm not only full of new ideas, but a newbie outsider too!

Exactly!...But you can't tell people that...They think that you can cuss and defame and harass etc on a "Private Repeater"....Even on the HF bands you can't do that....SMH!

Yep sure did just like 14.313....A bunch of 10 year old little children that haven't grown up yet. Actually I have seen 10 year olds act much better. I can suggest they can go back to the CB band.

CB is now an allocated band for weirdoes to let loose. Were people on CB in the 70s and before nice to others???

Wrong...My long time friend at the FCC says different. He sent me this in a e-mail. I also found this same thing he sent me on the internet....Stop being a Karen and cry baby. The FCC's Part 97 rules are designed to accommodate the sharing of non-commercial, personal messages, emergency communications, and technical experimentation by licensed amateur radio operators. The FCC explicitly prohibits obscene, indecent, or profane language on any radio communication, including ham radio. The FCC explicitly prohibits obscene, indecent, or profane language on any radio communication, including ham radio. The definitions for these terms, as per the FCC, are as follows: **Obscene content** is defined as material that meets all three of the following criteria: an average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest; the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexual conduct specifically defined by applicable law; and the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political, or scientific value. **Indecent content** is material that, in context, depicts or describes sexual or excretory organs or activities in terms patently offensive as measured by contemporary community standards for the broadcast medium.

    Name, Shame... repeat!

"Name, address, telephone number" repeated on air every time the "Pest" interjects...

...Is the only way to get rid of these miscreants!

Just like I spin the dial when a frequency becomes intolerable, doing the same with Ham Radio Now. And, mark "the frequency" to not return. I don't appreciated fellow ham radio operators presenting ANY topic and than holding us hostage with poo-foo-rah.

Ham Radio Now's cup runneth over with "poo-foo-rah."

The air waves belong to the public and are regulated by the FCC. You get a license for the privilege (not the right) to use them. Please act accordingly.

WTH is that jumble of words? I hate when online posters can not cobble a few words together for an understandable
reply. I will mark that up to too much Christmas spirits .

What is this nonsense - people defending the "rights" of verbally abusive people? Take a good look at yourselves. Then, ask yourselves if you want to support the "rights" of these abusers to talk to your wives and daughters that way.

Your FCC license is not a right but a privilege with rules and limits much like a driver's license. You have freedom of speech but not a right to exercise it anywhere on private relays, newspapers or tv stations.
