I was going through some videos from the past few years, and I was reminded of the several contacts from a true gentleman who elmered me a bit, from afar -- W6CCP.

This is a great hobby, but it's also a real downer to have to lose special people.

Please name someone you really miss chatting with on the airwaves.

There are several and the list is growing longer. It's just a fact of life that as we go along that such a list is formed.

There is a Silent Key forum here too.

My First Contact was with NY2U Bill Eddy, he was the President of the Troy, NY Amateur Radio Association TARA,
and when I had my first QSO with "Mr. Bill" he said you have found the best repeater in the area, super glue the knob to keep it here. :)

He was a remarkable Gent and is missed by many folks.

Many others that are now SK that I miss, and I have only been in the hobby 11 years.

The Old Man himself, W1AW. We need his "Rotten xxx" articles in QST again, not the crap that lesser mortals like Gallagher have been churning out recently.

Angelo, W8ERN, Brighton, Michigan. Friendly, gracious, great conversationalist, long-time ham. I miss hearing his booming signal on 40 meter SSB.

Funny you should mention Seymour W6CCP. What a nice guy, he was one of the first hams I met when I moved to southern California. And of course hard to miss that HUGE signal from his enormous 20m beam on a prominent hilltop. I think he's missed by a lot of people.

For me, I miss hams from whom I learned a lot as a kid: W2AZL, W2KME and W2WCF mostly, plus old buddy WA2ACJ who was willing to "drive me around" so I could go hilltopping on VHF way before I was old enough to drive; and college prof WA2GCM who made learning some very complex things much easier.
