2M FM used to be the new thing. It was fun converting the old commercial LMR equipment and building repeaters. It is just not so much fun anymore. In a lot of places all the 2M (and 440) repeater pairs are assigned, so there is just a lot of maintenance to do.

Activity is down, but not completely gone. There are a few repeaters that stay active, but many, even wide coverage ones that are quiet for hours.

2M FM can be a sort of intercom among club members working on various projects. What other activities are your club members involved in? DXing? Contesting? Building? It is hard for 2M FM to be an activity itself anymore. If your club members aren't active in other areas of ham radio they probably won't get on 2M to talk about it.

Do any of you listen from home? Old single channel radios are cheap. I keep one on 146.520 and one on the club repeater all the time. Activity is low enough for this to be tolerable, but high enough to be interesting at times.
