    I think that the generator needs to be rotated at a much higher rpm than you are getting from the foot pedal. You can remedy this by putting a very large wheel driven by the pedal (i.e. a 26" or 27" bicycle wheel) and driving the shaft of the generator directly from this (use a wheel with a tire to get "traction") or use some type of belt between the wheel without the tire and a very small wheel on the generator. You might even have to go to some intermediate step with the large wheel driving a very small wheel that is coaxial with another large wheel to the small wheel on the generator. This would improve the rpm greatly.
