    Hi!

I recently discovered the top level domain (TLD), .radio.

It looks like it typically runs about €225/year but there are exceptions where the registrars will give you a discount:

"Eligible for domain names which are the amateur radio callsign (HAM) of the registrant, domains that are a variation of the name or last name of the registrant, small non-profit amateur radio clubs and small non-profit community radios. Registrants in this phase are systematically pre-validated by the Registry."

It looks like you can get it from any of your favorite Registrars that sell a .radio address. I ended up paying €25/year for my callsign.

Also, from what I can tell, it can be used as a forwarding to your main site, it doesn't have to be a standalone site, which is nice.

I thought others might find this neat or useful.

Which registrar did you use? I checked both Network Solutions and GoDaddy here in the US and appears neither offer .radio domain addresses. https://register.radio/ claims to provide the ability. Not sure I want to spend €25/year to find out.

I use register.radio for nk7z.net, and have been happy with them. The way you have to pay is odd, you load up a buffer with cash, then they remove what they need each renewal period. I reload every year with the current fee, (has not changed in years), and that has worked well for me.

I initially didn't want to mention the registrar I used, because I didn't want it to be an advertisement for them.

But I did use https://register.radio/ to register https://k8vsy.radio/

to register for an amateur radio show all under. radio you have no choice of registrar (unless you want to pay full freight).

It stinks that amateur radio domains here are so spendy... all of my other dot.@{com,net,org} domains cost half as much (or less).

You are right, it appears even though https://gandi.net/ offers .radio they don't seem to offer the discount to ham radio operators that https://register.radio/ offers.
