Can anyone provide some advice on installing a radio in a 2015 Jeep Cherokee? I am thinking of a Yaesu FT 7900R with the head on a gooseneck. I understand the battery for this jeep is under the passenger seat so I thought installing the radio under the right rear passenger seat might work. Would like some advice before I buy a rig and start installing. Thanks!

    Hi Gregory,

I have a 2012 jeep Cherokee with the battery under the seat and it works fine. But it does take a little
work. Just make sure its fused close to the battery. Most of the radio manufactures power cords with
the smaller ring terminals (#8 or #10) can get on the edge of the battery terminal clamp.
On mine I had to take the battery out to get the positive lead on and slide it back in.
Panavise makes a nice rig holder if you use the remote separation kit

I had tio file my radio bezel underneath to fit it nicely, but noone see it if removed and you sell the car.

The GRAND Cherokee has the battery under the passenger seat. The Cherokee (smaller/fiat influenced) has the battery in the engine compartment.
