In INDIA, you have folks using fractals to *solve* antenna problems, to wit:

A Compact Hybrid Fractal Antenna using Koch and Minkowski Curves for Wireless Applications (youtube.com)

In CHINA--both-- you have by last count, over 3500 researchers working on fractal antenna and related technology, publishing in NATURE, APS. IJAP, etc,

Design and analysis of Minkowski fractal antenna for wideband THz frequency tuning/multiband operation in a MIMO antenna system | Journal of Applied Physics | AIP Publishing

In contrast, often in 2024 AMERICA, we have connotations of 'strangeness' and attempts to 'diss' because we choose the antenna first rather than defining the problem and choosing the correct (fractal) antenna (design) to solve it...

#1988 Sierpiński Triangle Gasket Fractal Antenna (youtube.com)

America is full of Americans with hubris covering a coating of ignorance. That is why we are behind on so many key technologies. MO.

FYI, every time someone says 'Minkowski...antenna' this maps to the original publication by Cohen, in 1995. Again not cited:-(

    Congratulations to Chip and Jim.

Chip, I, like you, am not dead yet. Those are just rumours from those who keep telling people Amateur Radio is a dead or dying hobby. I fully understand the lack of sources on foreign research. And much of it must be taken with more than a grain of salt. I agree with your estimate that we are 20 years ahead. It's like being told by the patent office that they will not issue one because what you are applying to protect is not possible. And if we publish too much openly we just give it away for free and to other countries with or without protection. Not only are foreign patents very costly, but some large foreign countries just ignore our patents. I often wonder where we would be if Tesla and Marconi, and to a lesser extent Edison, were in their prime in today's world. Our instant online information place has made the world so small that if we say too much it is stolen from us and used against us. Those that need to know recognize that your work continues and improves. Too much information beyond that does not benefit you or anyone else that matters in the world.

Keep up the great work Chip and Jim. I wish I could be there this year to see you accept your awards. For health reasons my travel is very restricted right now. Perhaps I will see you in Orlando or Dayton again in 2025.

    73 my friends.
