Hi all. In addition to being a radio ham (G4GZU) I also do creative writing as a hobby. I am interested in setting up a Ham radio creative writing group with a view to setting up a net or nets with like minded members. If anyone is interested please contact me at roger512962@gmail.com 73s

Dear Sir or Madam: Will you read my book?
It took me years to write, will you take a look?
It's based on a novel by a man named Lear
    And I need a job,
So I wanna be a paperback writer.

It's a dirty story of a dirty man
And his clinging wife doesn't understand.
His son is working for the Daily Mail
    It's a steady job,
But he wants to be a paperback writer.

    It's a thousand pages, give or take a few;
I'll be writing more in a week or two.
I could make it longer if you like the style --
    I can change it 'round
And I wanna be a paperback writer.

If you really like it you can have the rights,
It could make a million for you overnight!
If you must return it, you can send it here
    But I need a break,
And I wanna be a paperback writer.
    :)

I gave up on NaNoWriMo when they sent me an email which implied that each member was costing them $80 for web expenses and so on, and asking for donations. I haven't had good experiences with writers' groups. My best experience was Project Greenlight, and even that had a bad side.

Ham radio also seems like an awkward venue for this.

that's an interesting concept. While things like that are not as common here in the US, in other parts of the world (like the UK, Japan, and a few other places ) Arts and Humanities activities like that are higly regarded. If you get a net or website going, let me know.

A few years ago I had the opporunity to meet several members of the Royal Wales military unit.... and was surprised to learn that not only were they a very professional fighting force, they also took great pride in their choir. AND several of my Japanese friends have made an avocation in writing and presenting Haikus. I think such activities tend to help a person maintain perspective.

One of our most prolific member/authors, Eric, might offer up some pointers.... he's published many books and articles over a lot of years.

@KL7AJ when you're done in the outhouse, come on over and share some wisdom!! :):)

Sorry, that was just too dumb. :)

The most creative literature I hve ever seen out of the UK is Cædmon's Hymn, unfortunately, it's in a foriegn language.
