    This reminds me that there used to be an operator who hung out around 14.175 and was always making racist remarks. I think he lived in or near Oakland. I haven't heard him on the air in several years, thankfully.

    I've heard them a time or two there as well, and, yeah, seemed like regular fellers.

    The problem, of course, is that once you have a big enough statistical sample (i.e., "all hams") yer gonna get a Gausian/normal distribution, and once you are a couple of standard deviations from the mean, yer gonna see "weirdness." These tend to stick out, for obvious reasons.

    The proper response, or so I think, is to push the PTT button (presuming you're not using VOX) and utter, "sorry about that, asswipe," then twiddle the dial to somewhere else. It's a waste of your time to ponder the bizarre and the clueless.
