Am I allowed to answer someone's else CQ for a different contest to use the contact with my contest?

If so how would the contact exchange go? My Rookie Roundup asks for year licensed while other contests will ask for a sequence number. Would we exchange both, i.e. I ask for the year licensed?

    Thanks,
    Claus

Yes, it's not uncommon to be in one contest and work someone in another contest. Ask what exchange they need, and tell him what information you need.

It's like flirting with your wife's sister but in ham radio it's allowed.

Yes, just let the other op know what you expect for an exchange in your event and then give him the exchange he expects. The result is actually two Qs between your stations.

I wonder what he did with the time he saved not typing SO.

No. Qs are those things that the British stand in at the grocery store. Over here, we call them lines.

Claus: you can do 2 contest exchanges back-to-back. Do whatever exchange is required for the first contest then switch gears and do the exchange for the second. If you don't know what is needed for the 2nd contest, ask him what he needs. Sending 001 for a serial number should work. Increment by 1 for any further contacts involving that contest.

Each contests has a required exchange so as long you do that, you're good.
