I don't visit the VHF/UHF technical forum very often so if this has been addressed previously I apologize. I need to replace the VHF/UHF transceiver in one of our vehicles. I have a chance to purchase a used Yaesu FTM-400DR for no more than I would spend for a good dual band analog rig. Let me make it clear that I will likely NOT use many of the features of the FTM-400. We have no digital activity in this area. I might use the APRS occasionally when traveling. My question is in regards to how well the radio performs on analog FM. That would be the use of the radio 95% of the time.

I only ask because I can purchase this one for about what a new FT 8800R would cost and the physical layout of the control head, its appearance, and the fact that it is touch screen appeals to me. Any input? I need to decide by Dec 1 whether to buy it.
