    This is very strange.

Don't feel bad! I still need AK and HI for both my 30 and 40m WAS-Digital. You'll get them!

I'll be listening for you too. All I've been able to work in Africa is Morocco and Cape Verde Island.

Good luck on chasing Alaska! It took me a good while to get it but I did make a QSO with AK eventually...

There are some big contest stations up there have been undergoing some upgrades so you might have a chance in some of the upcoming contests.

    One year later........ and nothing.

Not a single packed ever seen,

Seriously, not a single packet ..... EVER.

Is this normal ? is it the "Northern lights" ?

    Amazing !!!!

    Richard,
Alaska is challenging, even for us stateside folks, but especially during the current sun cycle. It's a combination of low # of active Hams and generally poor propagation from that part of the world. I've heard Alaskan ops describe the QTH as a "black hole of propagation." They do experience a lot of solar storm and aurora activity near the poles, which as you know, inhibits HF propagation.

That being said - would love to work Ghana for an ATNO sometime! Hope to catch you on SSB one day. ;-)

Thanks for the response ... It's good to know I'm not alone.
Whenever you have a beam pointing in my direction, you could send me a quick note and I'll see if I can hear you.

I just got my IC7300 to work with the WSJT-X software last night and you were one of my first FT8 DX contacts.
