When it comes to building ham radio projects using the Arduino microcontroller, the best person to call is Glen Popiel, KW5GP, author of Arduino for Ham Radio, published by the ARRL. Like many hams, Glen was into computers early and now applies those computer skills to new and fascinating ham radio projects. KW5GP is Eric, 4Z1UG’s, guest on QSO Today. Hi, I met Glen at the ARCI FDIM earlier last spring at Dayton, he is a great guy! He is really passionate of Arduino world and building projects. The book he wrote is also a very good starter if you want to discover the Arduino world. I remember from him, when he told to us : "If you want to challenge me, ask me if something cannot be done using an Arduino.... I'll get back to you in a jiffy with an idea ! " .... this is why I'm now doing Arduino projects too! Regards, J-F VA2SS
For people interested in building projects using Arduino.... The book he wrote..... a great seller at Dayton Hamvention this year.... again ARRL sold out this book almost the first day. http://www.arrl.org/shop/Arduino-for-Ham-Radio 73 J-F VA2SS
In addition to that fine book, I suggest another book written by Dr. Jack Pardum W6TEE and my good friend Dennis Kidder W6DQ, "Arduino Projects for Amateur Radio" that can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Arduino-Projects-Amateur-Radio-Purdum/dp/0071834052 It's loaded with some very useful and easy to build projects that most anyone could build and it's priced right too. 73 de Billy N6YW
