Ellen White, W1YL, deserves the title of “Grande Dame” of amateur radio with over 70 years into the hobby. Now entering her 90th year, Ellen is as active as ever on 40 meter CW. Her ham radio story began as a love story that involved a World War 2 GI, Bob White, W1CW (sk), who became her husband, ham radio elmer, and companion for over fifty years.
