Twice now hams have entered a QSL on eQSL stating they saw an FT8 QSO I was having with a different ham. I don't understand what that's all about. Is it common to log a QSO for an exchange you are not part of but see it occurring?

I get cards, both paper and eQSL, from people I have never worked. It happens. If you have been active on FT8, it could be that people think they worked you when you were actually trading QSO data with somebody else. It's not like FT8 is all that wordy of a mode.

It is not common. But not unheard of.

I have had a couple of non-ham SWLs request QSLs of SSB QSOs. If the info is in my log, I confirm it. I remember being a SWL as a kid, and while I never asked a ham for a QSL, I did ask broadcasters for them, and enjoyed recieving them. It's fun to pass the favor down the line, sort of.

coincidentally I just received a packet of cards from the bureau. In there were two swl cards - both for cw qso's I had. It appears in the case of 2 German swl's that they had 'callsigns' that began with DE...

Thank you. His QSL card does say he was listening. I'll confirm him.

I've received SWL cards on eQSL for CW QSOs, also from Germans. Bet the same ones! ;)

One was German and one was Italian. I QSL'd them. Both were SWLs

I always think it's cool to get an SWL report.
