    Hi,

Why is a "QSO party" called a "QSO party"?

I have been a ham for many years. I learned early on that "QSO" is the ham expression for "conversation". However, during a "QSO party", the only actual QSOs (conversations) I find, if any, are hams who are not involved in the "QSO party"!

Why can't we have a real "QSO party"? In other words, an event where hams get involved in "conversations" for at least 15 minutes or more?

    Regards, John N3AOF

I think what is implied here is the 'amount' of qso's in a given length of time. Not the amount of time in any given qso. I hope that clears it up for you.
