QRZ Server Upgrade Success!

    Today we upgraded some of our most heavily used servers to new hardware in the Amazon Data Center. These upgrades have resulted in noticeable speed increases in the Forums, on the Callsign pages, and on the XML Data server.

    Our new servers are all-SSD, meaning that they're F A S T. Say goodbye to rotating memory!

    During these upgrades, our servers were down for brief periods of time. This was undesirable but necessary. We apologize for any inconvenience. One fellow even wrote to tell us that the weather was too cold to do anything else but sit in a warm room and surf QRZ. We hope that everyone is surviving the cold and that now, QRZ can help keep you warm HI HI

    We hope everyone enjoys the new, speedier operation. Thank you so much for your patience.

    Will the photo upload system be fixed fairly soon? Just getting "little gray boxes" with no preview and no "full size" unless you click on the little gray box

    When you live in the boonies, everything is slow! What are we missing, the pictures don't show up unless we click on the box inside the bigger box, then it takes us to a new URL.

    No, that's not the problem. Fred pinged me. Just part of a server upgrade that happened today and not everything is fully operational after the change.

    For the record I have "fiber to the house" and get 270 MB internet service. NOT slow, not in the slightest. Supposed to upgrade to full gigabit in the Spring.

    When I lived in the city? I had 20 MB on Comcast, on a good day :eek:

    Cut the geeks a little slack... I work in the IT field and deployment/migrations never go at smooth as we hope. Issue are categorized and prioritized. If the pics on 100 pages fail to load, maybe they were working on getting the pages to 5000 profile to even show up in the search. Or securing the identities with a valid cert that won't splat out Chrome. It not the end of the world and they'll get it within a reasonable about of time.

    Well done on this FREE service to most.
