Until recently, when I clicked on the "Detail" tab on someone's QRZ page, I'd see the option to view in satellite mode, as well as zoom in/out. Now, when I click on Detail, it provides me with the non-satellite view and no other option. Often, when I scroll out, it says something to the effect of no data available. It's likely user error, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any guidance would be much appreciated.
I looked up your call sign. Under "Detail" I saw the non-satellite map, but under your lat long coordinates there is a hyperlink "View larger map". Clicked it and it brought up a satellite view. Was able to zoom down to street level.
The upper right corner of the map. Please see the attached document to confirm if I have done it correctly. Then go to Satellite View and can almost see you waving, although it looks like you are in the middle of the street, so I'm not sure which is your house.
Tonight I found an even easier way to do it. Screenshot 1 Screenshot 1 shows what I see when I look at the Detail pane on your QRZ page. It's a non-satellite view. Notice on the bottom left is a little box that shows the satellite view. Click on that box and it toggles between the two map types. Screenshot 2 shows the map has changed to the satellite view of the first map. Using the + button on the right, I zoom all the way down to street level. I verified this in Firefox, Chrome, and Edge. Hope this helps.
Thank you, Michael. I'll give this a try. I guess my confusion comes from the extra steps that were not previously required. Maybe I need a software update somewhere.
Also, I'm no longer seeing the satellite view option, nor the thumbnail to click. Perhaps it's browser related.
Keep in mind that the mapping tool is a Google implementation, not specifically a QRZ tool. They can make changes to the API and information presented and there's not much QRZ can do about it. If there are sudden changes to the display, look at Google not QRZ. And yes, difference in browsers, plug-ins, ad/content blockers, and more can affect what you see and what features are available.
I used my other computer and lo and behold, the satellite and other functions worked. It's strange because I used the same browser and both computers are Macs. So it appears just to be an issue on one of my computers. Thanks for the input- I appreciate the assistance.
