I have decided to rehab my old T8A. It works fine, but over the years the batteries died and the Rat Shack FTDI USB programming cable was sold with another radio...

The first issue is solved, as I rebuilt the packs with new cells. What remains is selecting a relatively cheap cable that I can use with the programming software. When I was using this, the FTDI chip solution was prime. Now I see a number of cheaper solutions that use the CP2102 (Silabs or clone) UART equivalent.

What is recommended here on the cheap? Does the CP2102 work with 64bit OS systems? Any observations appreciated!
