    For the same reason people buy very big audio amps and only run them at reasonable volume levels, because they want a clean low distortion signal without the chance of clipping.

    I assume from May 2017 photos (QRZ page) that Friedrich, DL6AAR has this Alpha 77 working,
    with the Hypersil transformer external to case?

    I could care less what power he runs, his workmanship is typical German excellence.

    Gotta love those pair of 833A Class A audio amps.

    Agree on the workmanship of these mono blocks.
    He even used dovetail joints for the wood trim.
    I wonder if he "hand cut" the dove tails?
