    Maybe someone can help me?

I am a Polish amateur radio. I have a Kenwood TS-50 transceiver since the beginning of the 1990s. I never had any problems with him!

In recent days, however, a strange phenomenon has appeared: from time
to time all the frequency digits on the LCD display go out, but all the decimal points appear. This phenomenon is preceded by a telegraphic message with the text "UL".

After some time the problem passes...

Maybe some of you know this problem and can help me somehow, for example by suggesting where to look for the fault?

Thanks in advance for any help!

    Chris, SP3ELD

The dots and "UL" indicate that a PLL has unlocked. By it coming and going I would go the the PLL unit and replace the leaking SM electrolytic caps. Replace all and clean the board with good alcohol. Using a magnifier check all traces for damage.
