President congratulates URE on 70th anniversary Don Beattie G3BJ, President of IARU Region 1, wrote to Spain's national amateur radio society URE to congratulate them on their 70th anniversary Don's letter read: Dear Pedro, As the celebration of URE's 70th anniversary through the "AM70" operations comes to an end, I am writing on behalf of myself and the whole of IARU Region 1 Executive Committee to congratulate you and everyone involved in the "AM70" project. The level of interest and activity during this event has been truly remarkable, and the achievement of over 1 million QSOs is a testament to the planning and enthusiasm of all those involved. Your website was an example for other companies considering special event activities of this sort. URE can be proud of its achievement.
