Supposedly freeze dried foods last 25 years, does anyone freeze dry their own foods? How do you do freeze dry foods? Is there an affordable freeze drying machine?

I have tomato juice for breakfast, use it in soups, stews, make spaghetti sauce, make chili... Planting around 100 tomato plants this year!

Initially, I read the thread's title as "Peppers and Repeaters," thinking that it sounded spicy!
Might need some Tabasco to go all the freeze-dried stuff...

While I'm sure that's true as to the motivation for switching to digital (and possibly lobbying efforts by Motorola and others with a monetary stake in the conversion), all but a few are actually encrypted, and here locally in my small rural county where the dispatch is still narrow FM, when the police need to communicate something "sensitive" I am pretty sure they just use their cell phones.
