...and I used to cross that bridge twice/day to go to work at Tacoma Narrows Airport, a little under two miles from there--I was a ground school and flight instructor there. For training purposes, I'd have my students do a roundtrip to Renton Airport, then Boeing Field, then fly through the VFR corridor over SeaTac, then to Vashon Municipal with a touch-and-go at each airport. If you can fly that route well, you can fly anywhere. (The scariest part wasn't flying over SeaTac but doing a touch-and-go at Vashon--it has a short, grass runway surrounded by trees and when wet....hoo-boy--you could stick your foot out and kick the tree tops on the upwind leg.)

You mean they made you wear the reflective vest way back then, even if you were hundreds of feet above traffic?

Wait, never mind. They made us wear reflective vests (or at least Safety Orange ones) back in the 70s when I was a land surveyor, even if we were miles off any road.

That's so they could spot you in the bushes in case you needed a rescue chopper. It also protects you from looking like a deer and get shot by the local poacher.

Not many bushes on a bridge. Or animals to poach. Just sayin'.

What are the big hair bands today? 6m? 70cm? :p

I guess the large majority of 160m is the "thin-or-no hair" band.

    Not there, but when surveying.

Then you'll never know which way you need to go to get to the point you shall measure.
