Congratulations on your 12th.
Did you take your wife out to eat fish ?
We hit up several nice places in the area - gotta be careful on Long Beach - lots of "fakers and wannabes" bringing in long-frozen fare. But being PNW locals, we know how to suss it out for the quality places. Oh, and Yelp helps a lot
FABULOUS weekend at the beach. Absolutely lovely time.
Molly loved it too! (No, not from today but from Friday at sunset so breaking my own thread rules )

I went to a White Sox game yesterday.
The word for today is, "Fernsteuergeräte". (Remote Control Apparatus).
They still make servo control pots and encoders, but DC tacho motors went out of style in the 70's.
People try to fix them without the knowledge and tool$... and then they call me.
This one's harder than it looks!
What the heck are they used for??
The motors on this bad boy have to spin at precise speeds, so they are in a closed servo loop. The tacho generators are fed to a - feedback node on the drive cards. When the tacho goes bad, the motor spins up and there's no record cutting until it's fixed.
The usual problem is that the motors start to squeal. They are easy to take apart and oil the bearings but you need the fixture to put it back together. When someone does this "at home", they mash the brushes and add misery to the equation.
I know... it's work (BORING).
Jen's got the girls at the Zoo today so at least she will have some fun pictures.
I'll post one later.
