The only solution to the vanity call oposing views is to think "vanity". Handles, instead of a fcc issued call designator, just makes more sense. Those who are into the fray and feel the need could then design their own handle suitable for their satisfaction. We would then hear "Mr purty", "big boy", "dit dit", and other totally unique verbage for the up and coming, fashionable hammy to identify with. Not new to radiophiles, as this has been used in other similar services. Some call them tactical, some, simply handles, and some, their own person personal. Those, like me, with limited artistic qualities, could simply use a handle like "bob", "ed", etc. In fact, maybe "et cetera" may be a good one. Hmmmmm, got me thinking......

Won't work, IMHO. There is ALREADY a "service" that does just that.:(

There are several other "services" that use pseudonyms. Hint: "John".

Can you apply for a call that has never been issued? It might be sequentially issued some day, but not as of yet.

Too bad those call sequences are already in use in other radio services.

i guess I'm an old curmudgeon b/c I get irritated by non-standard callsigns. I'll accept that call sign numbers no longer give a rough indication of where the operator actually is, but I do get irritate with KH & KL stations that are in lower 48 states. I know, I know... there is no need to get irritate but for some reason it irks me. . . same goes for ridiculous special event stations like TM2018fifa or US1980USSR (i made those up :) )
