This week will be the wrap up of building the 12AX7 microphone preamplifier. We have added a two band equalizer with the final design featuring a bright control to increase the speech articulation. We will begin the design and building of the AM transmitter next week. You can follow each of the video clips of the project at www.heilsound.com. The video clips of the project, the schematics and layout drawings along with comments from the many followers. Please join us each Wednesday at 8:00 PM CDT on Leo Laporte's TWIT.TV .
brightness control? On second thought, those knobs seem to be painted in vivid shades of purple and red -- so maybe you really meant bright control...
Back in the day we called them "tone control" and "audio feedback". Plus the Psychodelic colors are triggering me. I need my safe space.
Colored knobs are great for ergonomics, chicken-head knobs come in many colors: http://www.solorb.com/elect/musiccirc/liltiger1/index.html Shoes should be blue (and suede). And Bob, some of us are dying to know what kind of modulation scheme you will be using to produce the AM..
yeah the wood kinds puts me off too. My plan is to wait until the entire project is done then buy all the parts at once and build it into a (well ventilated) metal project box.
He is using laminated wood that gases out. Once there is gas buildup it does not take a lot of heat to ignite the whole works. Also you have a high voltage source for the tube and if it sparks with gas present....boom!
