Paypal wants more information than previously

Why would a drug dealer be using Paypal ?

When I get the Paypal "update requested" Message, I click "Maybe Later"

But I never tried to buy or sell drugs, So they let me pass.

 

I don't have SMS and so I pass on providing a cell phone number.

Why ask that?

 

If paypal acts enough like a bank, paypal will be required to comply with the bank secrecy act, BSA. The BSA requires collection of customer data and reports on transactions meeting BSA criteria. A credit union acts enough like a bank to fall under BSA regulations. I am on the board of a credit union so I am familiar with BSA requirements. Paypal may not be considered enough like a bank for all categories of customers.
