09/30/2019 Former ARRL North Texas Section Manager Phil Clements, K5PC, of Ben Wheeler, Texas, died on September 23. An ARRL Life Member, he was 79. Clements served as ARRL North Texas Section Communications Manager/Section Manager from 1979 until 1989. (ARRL changed the position title to Section Manager in 1984.) George Philip Clements was born March 29, 1940 in Dallas, and adopted by the late Rex and Vera Clements of Belton. He had been a resident of Van Zandt County, near Edom, for 19 years, formerly living in Belton and Lewisville. He was a retired pilot, flying for Braniff Airways and Airborne Express. A FEMA volunteer, he was an amateur radio instructor, a member of American Radio Relay League, RACES, and the Edom Volunteer Fire Department. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Lyn Clements of Van Zandt County, near Edom; two children, Shari Jenkins of Addison and Shelly McKee (Joe) of Pottsboro; three grandchildren, Mitchell Mahaffey (Brittany) of Tyler, Justin Wilson (Lindsay) of Houston, and Jami Wilson of Addison; and four great-grandchildren, Maddox, Brady and Macie Mahaffey of Tyler, and Ashton Wilson of Houston.
