During the Deaf Reach Annual Workshop 2026, held in Tando Allahyar, the Pakistan Amateur Radio Society (PARS) conducted a specialized Radio Etiquette and Emergency Communications training session for Deaf Reach leadership, managers, principals, administrative, and operational teams. The online session was conducted by Asad Ullah Marwat, AP2AUM, Vice President of the Pakistan Amateur Radio Society (PARS). The interactive session focused on developing professional radio communication skills, enhancing emergency coordination, and introducing participants to modern amateur radio technologies that can support communications when conventional systems fail. The training equipped Deaf Reach leadership with practical radio communication skills to enhance operational coordination, emergency response, and decision-making during critical situations. By combining classroom instruction with practical demonstrations, the session enabled participants to gain confidence in using radio communications effectively during both routine operations and emergency situations. Yagi Antenna Setup An 8-element Yagi antenna was installed and successfully tested by establishing contact with the PARS Karachi Repeater over a distance of approximately 178 km. HF, VHF, and UHF Mobile Stations Multiple radio stations were installed to enable participants to conduct hands-on simplex communication exercises and gain practical operating experience. SWR and Power Meter An SWR and power meter was installed to demonstrate its operation and illustrate how it is used to measure antenna performance and transmitter output power. Emergency Network Setup A demonstration emergency communication network was established to showcase the configuration and operation of an emergency communications system. The entire setup was powered off-grid using a solar power system, demonstrating its capability to operate independently of the commercial power grid. * Pakistan Amateur Radio Society (PARS) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Amateur Radio, emergency communications, technical education, and community service across Pakistan.
