got some money?. buy a dual band ht and a used ft 450d and dont transmit but learn how to use them as you tune the bands. you will learn a lot doing that. questions from that, search the net, lots of info .
take any practice ham tests you can just to get familiar with what its all about.the tests will teach you !!
get a band chart and use it to tune around, then you wont worry about memorizing frequencies. it will start to stick as you have fun.

    be sure to have fun...
need some parts to mess with?, let me know..
dont need code huh, learn it for fun. want code practice oscillator. let me know...
you can be on the air in a few months,or sooner...73

Listen to as much activity on as many bands as you can. This will help you learn the terminology and traditions of the hobby and make your experience more enjoyable when your license arrives and you get on the air.

Also get a ARRL Operating Manuel
it will help you enjoy radio more.
I like the ARRL’s License manuel

Watch lots of videos. These can help with technical explanations and demonstrations of on-air activity.

This playlist, especially beginners, is one source.

My website at http://home.alphalink.com.au/~parkerp/gateway.htm also has many beginner resources.
