Ger Visser PG5V passed away on 15 May 2026

Ger had been a member of VERON since 1993 and regularly attended our local section meetings. His enthusiasm for amateur radio was reflected in his participation in the annual PACC Contest, his experiments with amateur television on the 70 cm and 23 cm bands, Packet Radio and Pactor. He also experimented with moonbounce on 70 cm, a branch of the hobby that required his characteristic precision and patience. In recent years, Ger was also active using modern digital modes such as FT8 on HF and VHF.

Ger was also known for building things himself. From antennas for a wide range of amateur bands to complete station setups, whenever possible, he built it himself. Tinkering, testing and improving were typical of Ger.

In his professional life, Ger was known as a skilled instrumentation and control engineer, with a practical approach and a high level of technical expertise. In recent years, he brought this specialist knowledge into the digital world at Shell Information Technology.

We remember Ger as a true professional and a dedicated radio amateur through and through.

We extend our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones and wish them strength in coping with this loss.

On behalf of the board of the VERON Nieuwe Waterweg Section,
